I'm a dance teacher with over 30 years' teaching experience, and with many years working as a professional dancer and choreographer in television, theatre and commercial dance.
After researching the proven benefits of dance, I designed these Dance & Wellness classes to help connect adults with a sense of vitality and wellbeing, both mentally and physically.
I'm committed to keeping you moving, whether it's in class or at home. My classes will give your body a gentle workout, help with brain training and, most importantly, they're good fun.

Why Choose Dance

Dance is now regarded as one of the top activities for adults because it works both the brain and the body.

Research shows  in just 6 months of dancing, 1-2 hours per week, brain function can actually improve.

Why is this? Well, when dancing we're constantly learning and remembering new patterns with our arms and feet, and our brains just love this type of work.

In my lessons I encourage you to remember more and more steps so you can keep improving your memory as you progress through the classes.

The biggest benefit, though? You'll feel great! Music and dance are well known for being powerful mood enhancers so it's also the perfect activity for lifting our spirits.

And of course, there are the physical benefits:

– Maintaining muscle and bone strength

– Improving joint mobility

– Helping with balance and coordination

Since dancing with Leisa, the brain exercise has been very effective as I've noticed a real improvement with my memory. Also after years of shoulder problems I find that I now have more movement and less discomfort in the shoulders.

Well I didn't realise what great medicine it is.  The benefits from both the exercise and the friendships formed are amazing. What a healthy pill this dancing is.

2019 I decided to do something for myself. No gym for me! But dancing looked interesting. What fun I have had trying to get my body to do the things I think I can do. Dance & Wellness is like a bit of fresh air. Keeps the mind working too.

I love that dance can help people overcome their physical and mental hurdles in life.

This message arrived in my inbox from one of my participants.

" 💗 Here is my personal story to let you know how much I love your classes, your energy, your enthusiasm for us all even the un-co ones (like me), mostly I love that you never focus on what we can't do but keep encouraging what we can! Several years ago I had a severe spinal injury which left me unable to walk independently. Surgery last year gave me back the ability to use my left leg again but the damage left my spinal cord compressed in 4 places. Counting my blessings as I do in every part of my life, I was determined to walk again and then to learn to dance... cue Leisa's classes 🥳 after searching high & low I chose your group and am so, so happy I did. My brain often does not know where my feet are and my aim in "dancing" is to regenerate my neural pathways. A slow process and nerves also have to regenerate. So sometimes I am flummoxed as to what to do next because I can't get the signals to my legs and feet but a few seconds later, as the CSF flows again I reconnect. I've tried other exercise & rehab classes but zero enjoyment. No matter how difficult I find it I am LOVING being there. Thank you, thank you from my feet up 😁 to my brain🤩😍 "
